Catholics United Education Fund seeks to hire a full time organizer, beginning in the spring of 2014, to conduct faith based organizing work in Pennsylvania. The organizer will be responsible for implementing media outreach, one-on-one membership engagement and online organizing tactics. About Catholics United Education Fund Catholics United Education Fund and its 501(c)(4) partner organization, Catholics United, are national organizations that promote the values of justice and the common good in our public debate. Working with our 50,000 members, we are a progressive religious organization that engages in public debate to leverage power for positive social change. What we are looking for Catholics United Education Fund is looking for a critical thinker who can easily adapt to challenges and learn new skills. A successful applicant will have knowledge of Catholic social teaching and a strong desire to bring about positive structural change in the world. Applicants should have experience with community organizing, social justice advocacy, or media engagement. Involvement with new organizing technology is also strong plus. Applicants should have a college degree or comparable work experience and must be willing to reside in Pennsylvania. What the Organizer will do The Organizer will work hand-in-hand with the Executive Director in implementing Catholics United Education Fund’s campaign related activity in Pennsylvania. This will involve creating a state-based organization of social justice Catholics who are willing to engage in the public debate on social justice issues, especially as it relates to LGBT equality, labor solidarity, environmental protection, and immigrant rights. Areas of focus will include, but will not be limited to, the following: Grassroots organizing – Work with CUEF’s membership in key regions of Pennsylvania to impact specific moral values debates. Implementation of online strategy – Administer CUEF’s online database, send email blasts, and manage online content. Media and rapid response – Monitor the news and help develop media messaging opportunities, including crafting press releases and organizing press events.
